The ONLY change I'd personally like to see is going back a decade+, to the time when your Dr's Office used to directly call insurers, pharmacies and referred Dr offices to send Rx's and patient info, or other. But, those days ARE gone! Even when my Insurer requires that dreaded "Pre-AUTH!", it's ME, who is my OWN liaison, and I am my OWN advocate!"...though I am not at all medically inclined and my memory isn't as sharp these days!
This place is a God-send. They are always available and open late and on weekends. Sometimes you may have to wait a while, but they usually are pretty prompt. I have used the walk-in service and have always been able to get appointments quickly when I'm ill. My doctor is very caring (Peter Barker) and when he's not available the nurse practitioner and other doctors are quite good. I've been going here for almost 10 years. My husband goes here as well. I have never felt rushed. I highly recommend this practice.
My experience at Family Doctors in Swampscott last week and again today was excellent. The wait is everywhere you go but today my nurse practitioner was amazing. Her name is Sara, she knew exactly what was going on, took her time and diagnosed me right. It was my first time seeing here, she was friendly and caring.
The workers at the desk are slow, and leave patients standing forever before even aknowledging that they're in front of them. I remember standing at the desk, staring at three women for fifteen minutes before they even looked up to address me. One of them kept saying, "just a sec 'mam" over and over again, without meeting eye contact. I just don't understand what their role is, if the room is empty and I'm the only one at the counter, what else could possibly take the attention of three desk workers at once?

Once you're 'assigned' a doctor you can't switch, 'it's policy'. So if you don't like a doctor, you can't get different one within the same practice (remember it's a large group of doctors).
I really hate this doctor's office, there is such an enormous need for independent doctors offices. This business is a giant blood clot of associated doctors, nurses, and assistants.

My "Family" Dr is not my PCP, bc I have a PPO health insurer/Plan. This allows me the Freedom, which I Enjoy, to GO anywhere I choose and to receive treatment. When my physician, Dr Lisa Ceplikas, here at Family Dctors, LLC, recommends that I see a certain Dr, I trust and rely on Dr Ceplikas to have the clearest picture of my overall physical health and respect her opinion a lot.
